Please note that as a flight booking platform, Flying Apes acts as an intermediary between customers and airlines. Each airline has its own refund policy, which governs the refundability of tickets and the applicable cancellation charges. This policy provides general guidelines, but the specific terms of your booking will be governed by the airline's conditions of carriage and fare rules.

Important Note:

This Refund Policy is subject to the guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India and other applicable aviation regulations. In case of any conflict between this policy and the applicable regulations, the regulations shall prevail.

Refundable Tickets

Voluntary Cancellations

If you have purchased a refundable ticket and wish to cancel your booking, the following general rules apply:

Additional Charges and Services

For services purchased in addition to your flight ticket:

  • Seat Selection: Generally non-refundable once selected, except in case of airline-initiated cancellations
  • Meals: Generally non-refundable once confirmed, except in case of airline-initiated cancellations
  • Baggage: May be refundable as per airline policy if the flight is not taken
  • Travel Insurance: Subject to the insurance provider's terms and conditions

Flying Apes Service Fee

The service fee charged by Flying Apes at the time of booking is non-refundable unless the booking could not be completed due to technical issues on our platform.

Non-Refundable Tickets

If you have purchased a non-refundable ticket (such as promotional fares, special fares, or basic economy fares), the following guidelines apply:

Standard Policy for Non-Refundable Tickets

  • The base fare is typically non-refundable
  • Statutory taxes and User Development Fee (UDF), Passenger Service Fee (PSF), and Airport Development Fee (ADF) may be refundable
  • Airline-imposed fees and surcharges are generally non-refundable
  • The exact refundable amount will be calculated and displayed during the cancellation process

Important:

Even with non-refundable tickets, you should still cancel your booking if you cannot travel. This allows for potential refund of eligible taxes and also ensures that your no-show status doesn't affect your future bookings with the airline.

Special Circumstances for Non-Refundable Tickets

In certain exceptional circumstances, airlines may provide full or partial refunds for non-refundable tickets:

  • Medical Emergencies: With proper documentation such as medical certificates
  • Death of Passenger or Immediate Family Member: With proper documentation such as death certificate
  • Natural Disasters or Force Majeure Events: As determined by the airline

These exceptions are evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the airlines. If you believe your situation warrants special consideration, please contact our customer support team with relevant documentation.

Airline-Initiated Cancellations and Schedule Changes

Flight Cancellations by Airline

If your flight is cancelled by the airline, you are generally entitled to one of the following options:

  • Full Refund: A complete refund of the ticket amount, including taxes and fees
  • Alternative Flight: Accommodation on an alternative flight to your destination
  • Credit/Voucher: A credit or voucher for future travel with the airline

Significant Schedule Changes

If the airline makes a significant change to your flight schedule (typically more than 2 hours), you may be entitled to:

  • Accept the change without any additional cost
  • Request a full refund if the new schedule doesn't suit your travel plans
  • Choose an alternative flight (subject to availability)

The definition of "significant" schedule change varies by airline. Please refer to the airline's conditions of carriage for specific details.

Flight Delays

For substantial delays (typically more than 3-4 hours), airlines may offer:

  • Accommodation on a later flight
  • Meals and refreshments proportional to the waiting time
  • Hotel accommodation and transfers (for overnight delays)
  • Refund option if you choose not to travel due to the delay

These provisions are subject to the airline's policy and the applicable air passenger rights regulations.

To process your refund request efficiently, please have the following information ready:

  • Booking reference number
  • Passenger name(s)
  • Contact details used during booking
  • Reason for cancellation (required for certain types of refunds)
  • Supporting documentation (if applicable, such as medical certificates)

Refund Confirmation

Once your refund request is processed:

  • You will receive an email confirmation of your cancellation
  • A separate email will be sent confirming the refund initiation and estimated processing time
  • You can track the status of your refund in the "My Bookings" section of your account

The time it takes for a refund to be processed and reflect in your account depends on several factors:

Note: For airline-initiated cancellations, refunds may take longer during peak travel seasons, disruptions affecting multiple flights, or other exceptional circumstances. Rest assured, we are committed to processing your refund as quickly as possible.

Failed Transactions and Double Charges

Failed Bookings

If your payment was processed but the booking failed to complete due to technical issues:

  • The amount will be automatically reversed to your payment method
  • No cancellation fees apply in such cases
  • The refund is typically initiated within 24 hours of the failed transaction

Double Charges

In rare cases where you have been charged twice for the same booking:

  • The duplicate charge will be refunded automatically within 7-10 business days
  • If the duplicate charge persists beyond this period, please contact our customer support with transaction details
  • We will provide you with documentation to help resolve the issue with your bank if needed

Payment Verification Issues

If your payment was declined due to verification issues but the amount was temporarily held or deducted from your account:

  • The amount is typically released by your bank within 5-7 business days
  • This is a temporary authorization hold, not an actual charge
  • No action is required from our end as these holds are automatically released

Refund Processing Fees

Standard Refund Processing Fee

Flying Apes charges a nominal refund processing fee in addition to the airline's cancellation charges:

  • Domestic flights: ₹300 per passenger
  • International flights: ₹500 per passenger

This fee covers the administrative costs associated with processing your refund.

Fee Waivers

The refund processing fee is waived in the following circumstances:

  • Airline-initiated cancellations or significant schedule changes
  • Failed transactions where the booking was not completed
  • Technical issues on our platform that prevented the completion of your booking
  • Duplicate charges for the same booking

Third-Party Charges

Please note that your bank or payment processor may charge additional fees for processing refunds, especially for international transactions. These charges are beyond our control and are not included in our refund calculations.

Amendments and Modifications

Name Corrections

Minor name corrections (up to 3 characters) may be allowed, subject to the airline's policy. Fees for name corrections vary by airline:

  • Domestic flights: ₹500-1,500 per name correction
  • International flights: ₹2,000-5,000 per name correction

Complete name changes are generally not permitted by airlines and would require cancellation and rebooking.

Flight Date/Time Changes

Changes to your flight date or time are subject to:

  • Availability on the new date/time
  • Airline's change policy and applicable fees
  • Fare difference between original and new booking

Most airlines charge a change fee plus any fare difference. Change fees typically range from ₹1,500 to ₹3,500 for domestic flights and ₹5,000 to ₹15,000 for international flights, depending on the airline and fare type.

Route Changes

Changes to your flight route (origin or destination) generally require cancellation of the existing booking and creation of a new booking. Standard cancellation charges and refund policies will apply.
